Overview
FWD Motion has a strong position as an Umbraco-focused agency, especially around larger multi-site website projects.
The aim of this engagement is to support that position by helping with:
- Better use of AI across the business
- Support for the development team
- Clearer planning for future projects
- Improved processes for onboarding new websites
- Practical guidance around hosting, delivery, and modern web practices
- Additional development support where useful
The suggested approach is to start with a focused discovery and workshop phase, then move into ongoing support.
Recommended Approach
Phase 1: Discovery and Alignment
Time: 2 days
Cost: £1,000
This phase is about getting a clear picture of how FWD Motion currently works.
It would include:
- Meeting with the directors and development team
- Understanding the current Umbraco setup
- Gaining access to relevant repositories and platforms
- Reviewing hosting, deployment, and project management tools
- Reviewing how new websites are currently onboarded
- Looking at current project planning and delivery processes
- Identifying quick wins and areas for improvement
- Agreeing the priorities for the first few weeks
Output:
- Clear priorities
- Suggested next steps
- Focus areas for the workshops and ongoing support
Phase 2: Workshops
Fixed cost: £3,000
The workshops are designed to be practical, useful, and tailored to FWD Motion.
1. AI Workshop for Directors
Focused on how AI can support the wider business.
Topics could include:
- Where AI can save time
- How AI can support planning and delivery
- AI providers and models, and which options make sense for FWD Motion
- Risks, limitations, and sensible usage
- Opportunities for client services
- How to introduce AI without disrupting the team
This workshop should happen first, as it will help shape the agreed approach before the developer workshop.
2. AI Workshop for Developers
Focused on how the development team can use AI in their day-to-day work.
Topics could include:
- Using AI to speed up development tasks
- Improving code quality
- Helping with testing and documentation
- Using AI safely and consistently
- Practical examples based on real FWD Motion work
3. Modern Practices Workshop
Focused on improving how larger website projects are planned, hosted, and delivered.
Topics could include:
- Faster onboarding for new websites
- Better project setup
- Hosting options
- Headless and hybrid approaches
- Reducing repeated work across similar projects
- Making future projects easier to scope and deliver
Output:
- Shared understanding across the team
- Practical recommendations
- A clearer basis for future project scoping
Phase 3: Ongoing Support
Suggested starting point: 2 days per week
Cost: £1,000 per week
This is the ongoing support phase. The aim is to help FWD Motion build momentum and turn the earlier recommendations into action.
This could include:
- Attending stand-ups or team huddles
- Supporting the development team
- Helping identify and solve project issues
- Reviewing upcoming work
- Helping scope future projects
- Suggesting improvements to processes and delivery
- Supporting technical planning
- Providing hands-on development support where agreed
The two days per week can be used flexibly, depending on what is most useful at the time.
This should remain open-ended rather than being treated as a fixed 8-week agreement.
After the first few weeks, the level of support can be reviewed. If 2 days per week is more than needed once things are moving, this could drop down to 1 day per week.
Suggested First 8 Weeks Roadmap
This is not intended to be a fixed 8-week contract. It is a suggested starting roadmap that can lead naturally into ongoing management and support.
| Week | Focus |
|---|---|
| 1 | Discovery, team conversations, current process review |
| 2 | AI workshop for directors |
| 3 | AI workshop for developers |
| 4 | Modern practices workshop |
| 5 | Review of onboarding and delivery process |
| 6 | Future project scoping and planning support |
| 7 | Developer support and improvement actions |
| 8 | Roadmap review and ongoing support plan |
Cost Summary
| Item | Time | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Discovery and alignment | 2 days | £1,000 |
| Workshop package | Fixed package | £3,000 |
| Ongoing support | 2 days per week initially | £1,000 per week |
| Reduced ongoing support, if agreed later | 1 day per week | £500 per week |
Discovery and ongoing support are based on a day rate of £500.
The discovery and workshop phase is £4,000.
Ongoing support would then continue at the agreed weekly level.
Optional Development Work
Some development work can be included within the ongoing support days where agreed.
Larger development tasks would be scoped separately so that:
- Expectations are clear
- Timings are realistic
- The team knows what is included
- Ongoing support time is not accidentally consumed by larger build work
Recommended Starting Point
The recommended starting point is:
- Begin with discovery and alignment
- Deliver the three workshops
- Move into two days per week of ongoing support
- Review the support level once the work is underway
- Drop to one day per week if that becomes the better fit
This gives FWD Motion a clear structure while still allowing the support to stay flexible and useful.
Proposed Next Step
Agree the initial phase and book in the first discovery sessions with the directors and development team.
From there, the workshop dates, initial roadmap, and ongoing support rhythm can be confirmed.
